Let the...

decluttering begin!

I am following along with flylady and some online tips and tips from unclutter your home in a week and decluttering this house once and for all!

We just moved and I cannot understand where all the clutter came from... oh I know... I keep stuff in case and then "in case" never comes and then I have CLUTTER!

I get it!

I really do and I am getting rid of it... NOW or at least in the next few weeks!

Before and after pics coming too!

Oh no...

Joining Pure Style Home today too with my tupperware storage ...

I did a little organizing and de~cluttering today and it feels so good!
 They say what you can't see wont hurt you... but it drives me CRAZY!!

Since we were snowbound with 14" of the pretty white stuff I decided to take a look at a few drawers and cupboards today

I am almost embarrassed to even show them... but being that I am trying hard to keep it real... here goes nothing
I have not de~cluttered these since the holidays...

Hutch drawer in living room.. this is our go to drawer... the one where we keep most of the things we use all the time.

Here is the after

Yep that is the same drawer...
Notice the organizer ~ I love it! And made plans to begin using it the RIGHT way today!
It was from Christmas Tree Shops
It cost $9.99
It came with stickers that I put in the little cubbies for things such as tape, scissors, pens, sewing supplies, coins and so much more
Photobucket
The dust has since been vacuumed out LOL

Moving along to the end tables in the same room... again not cleaned out since the holidays..
you know...
friends call from the driveway and you make a mad dash around the house to put everything into a drawer...

here is the after...

coasters and tissues!

here is the before of the other drawer
Photobucket

Here is the after... remotes ONLY!!!
Photobucket

Not guaranteeing they will stay this way but for now... I love it!

Moving onto the kitchen... another spot I have not de~cluttered since the holidays... boy this is BAD!!!

This is our plastic container/wrap/baking cupboard

Here is the after...
Photobucket
Much better!
I threw out quite a few containers and even filled one up...
Here is the Tupperware container I decided to properly use...
It is divided in three sections with a stopper that you can move for what you need
Photobucket

I put half boxes of foods into it
pastina, rice and polenta all have a new home!
Photobucket

Too cool!

So moving onto our food cupboard...
Photobucket
I threw out some stuff and the put other things into smaller containers
Here is the after
Photobucket
Much better!
This large cupboard and a drawer are the only places we use to store food
 This way I don't overbuy and I throw less away

Here is the drawer
Photobucket
It is supposed to be a snack drawer... I moved the coffee stuff to a higher cupboard because we only use coffee for company but it has been there since ... the holidays
Boy the holidays really get to me LOL
Here is the after
Photobucket

Here is my spice drawer... a royal MESS!
Photobucket
I am ashamed... even the chalk wore off of the cute bottle project!
Here is the after
Photobucket
Again better!

Thanks for coming along with me and for keeping me honest!

The hanger difference

One of my Christmas gifts from my parents was a set of 50 lilac huggable hangers
I am sure you heard of them
But if not here is the link to them

I am not a clothes person.  I don't have a ton of stuff!

I typically wear jeans or black pants with a dress shirt under a sweater all winter long.
I wear everything in my closet

Here is my winter wardrobe before the transformation with the hangers

yep, that is it... that is ALL my clothes for the winter!
This is 1/2 of a normal size closet... the hubby has the other side and he does have more clothes than I do... I even added a new level for pants for him!
Now here is the closet after using the new hangers

More room in the closet means I can buy more clothes LOL
Here is another shot... I coordinated by color and moved the over too.

I usually put together my wardrobe for the workweek so under the clothes are pants
I am so excited that this is all the room that these hangers took up
I loved that I was able to hang silky and wider collar tops without them falling off
So far I am impressed by the hangers and will let you all know how they fair in a few weeks!

Thanks for stopping
Have a great day
Patricia

Craft Area BEFORE

Okay... here is FULL DISCLOSURE

I am lucky... our basement is very large with high ceilings.
When we purchased our home I knew just where I would craft... in the basement.
Eventually we would like to make a living room down there but there is a lot to do before that will happen.  For now... I will craft in the basement.
I have a New Year goal of creating a space in the basement to craft... but my secret goal is to have it COMPLETED by 2/27
So now I reveal the BEFORE... I held nothing back... this is the actual untouched space that will be my craft area...

These are the organizers that I am going to use to store most of the bigger stuff
Some already have things in them BUT will need to be gone though and labeled

This is my ladder shelf that will hold all the scrapbook papers and buttons and stickers and other fun stuff

This is a crazy pile of junk and good stuff that needs to be organized
Oh and you can see our new light fixture box for our yard that we got for Christmas from my inlaws

Here is a wonderful pic of the 1973 green walls and stunning curtains too
This is a rather large space
We are painting the walls and the floor in the spring

Hubby will have the back wall work section and work bench

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I am excited to organize this space... I love to create and need a space to do it
Stuff still needs to be unpacked and put in its proper space and I cannot wait to fully use it!
Having a yard sale...
we have tons of stuff that we are NOT moving to the new house
In fact, unless I love... LOVE it, it is not going to be moved... PERIOD!
So far, I have five large boxes of stuff to sell
My goal is to sell enough stuff and to make enough money that I am able to buy the beadboard wallpaper I want for the kitchen redo, paint for the entire house and paint for the basement.
I am looking at the very least making 300 bucks
I can do it!
I know I can!
I am not planning on advertising though... I plan to only use craigslist for this sale plus signs in the neighborhood
I am excited to make the cash for the paint... that way we don't have to go into the money that we want to use for carpeting for two of the bedrooms
I am lucky... my mom had concrete floor paint for the shop and never used it so she is giving it to me for the basement floor
I think we drove past the house 20 times this weekend
Oh and Friday went well... after some craziness with a credit card... it all figured out just fine!
Makeover and Decluttering
Here is the FINISHED breadbox... FINALLY I bought it for 1.00 at the thrift shop and finished it last week... I am using it for stuff that just does not have a home... until I can find a home Here is the link for the original post when I bought the box
Being that I am going to be off from work soon, I decided to start cleaning out my stash of stuff by decluttering my craft room. A lot of the stuff I declutter will be going into my Etsy shop with any proceeds going toward the adoption of our baby I have a lot of vintage stuff (pottery, jewelry) and some crafts and supplies that I so need to declutter. I need to make room because I want to devote some time this fall to creating what I love... whimsical wreaths, arrangements and ornaments. I need to have the room cleaned out in the next 10 days... YIKES! I am done working on August 1 I want to begin creating my loves then... I have a test for a new job in September Hubs told me to wait on applying until we go on vacation for our anniversary 9/17 Unless something comes up of course! So for a little while I will be jobless... which is fine by me... because I have a ton to do!
