Spring Mantle

Kellie is having a party ... and while you are visiting, you HAVE to see her craft room!! 

WOW!

In the beginning there was a lone black mirror over the fireplace

Then there were shutters from CTS that I bought last year on clearance for 1.00 each

Then came the apothecary jar bottom that I bought at Aldi for $7.00

The eggs that I made from Dollar Tree supplies came next with a large stick... from my yard!

Then came the filigree candle sticks and my grams Easter Greetings blocks!

Gram had these seasonal blocks for as long as I can remember... when she went to the nursing home they came with her... when she passed away,  I was honored to get these.

I added our initial and I hot glued some faux forsythia to the branches

I added the candles which I will have a tutorial on soon... and some blue check ribbon

I am LOVING my mantle!!!

It is bright and cheery and it is totally me!!

Using what I already had an hand... and no trip to the basement... I made over my mantle in 10 minutes!

Starting with  some candy candles I added them to my apothecary jar that was already filled with snow

I hand printed the word love on distressed Bingo Cards and hung them with grosgrain ribbon

 

I also hung the skates way up high... and kept with the snowflake theme... in anticipation of one big snowfall soon!!!

 

Here it is all together 

 

I included a cake stand to make the apothecary higher and my favorite picture of the two of us along with BE MY VALENTINE block that was my Grams!

Using only what I had on hand I created my Winter~Mantle

No, I don't technically have a mantle but here is what I did anyway

I have a vintage black mirror on my fireplace (this mirror is not dirty... it is scratched and silvered in spots)

I added a set of silver stacking boxes that were a gift this past Christmas

I have a pair of vintage skates that I bought a few years back for 2.00

I had an empty frame that I added some striped scrapbook paper and over the frame LET IT SNOW

The apothecary jar was filled with glittery flakes ... a wooden J... and a sparkly heart

The candle sticks match our plates and the red candles are from Christmas

The twiggy wreath was bought last winter at Sallys for 1.99

The one large snowflake was a gift from my mother in law and the other (lower) was a Dep 56 goodie from a few years back

The wooden snowflake was purchased at a craft shop sometime ago
