I never imagined just how tough it would be to take this house and make it our home!
We are all just ready for vacation
Here is a list of all the things that have been done in the last two weeks since we became home owners
- Thoroughly cleaned all surfaces of the entire house with bleach and water
- Regrouted the bathroom floor
- De~cobwebbed the entire house
- Removed all the kitchen cabinets, cleaned, sanded and painted (almost all) WHITE
- Removed the hardware from the cabinets, cleaned and painted BLACK
- Removed grating from the front door
- Removed shutters from side of door
- Painted kitchen door
- Painted linen closet and trimmed with ribbon
- Cleaned grout in kitchen
- Painted stove hood
- Painted all heat registers
- Painted kitchen wall
- Painted hallway
- Painted living room
- Painted spare bedroom
- Removed several bushes and trees from the yard
- Freecycled leftover mattress and boxspring
- Cleaned all windows
- Sized the kitchen wall for the BB wallpaper
- Shelf lined all shelves in kitchen
- Painted inside drawers in kitchen
- Painted inside medicine cabinet
- Painted medicine and lower cabinet
- Removed all outlet and light switch covers
- Covered AC for winter
- Painted tile in kitchen
- Cleaned fireplace and brick wall
- Removed brick planter and repaired wall and floor
- New GFCI switches in kitchen and bathroom
- New Electrical panel
- New light in basement and kitchen
Left to do
- Finish edge painting our bedroom
- Paint computer room
- Finish coating cabinets
- Replace all cabinets
- Change all light switch covers
- Assemble the mailbox
- New flooring throughout
- Paint basement entry walls
- Install shelf under bathroom sink
- Hang curtains in kitchen, bathroom, living room, and all bedrooms
- Radon system to be installed
- Drylock basement
- Sensor light outside
- Hang BB Wallpaper
Oh ... PACK our current house and MOVE it...
...and the big one... BREATHE!
Oh and as an aside, this house was not lived in for over 2 years and prior to that I believe it was an elderly gentleman who lived there so things were not updated
We love the structure of this home and knew with a lot of sweat equity we could have the house we wanted!

Oh my! That's more like 2 MONTHS worth of work! You guys DO need a vacation! Thank goodness our new house really needs nothing done to it...except I did want to put up that bead board wall paper in the the laundry room. Let me know how you like it! And we are having new carpet installed in two of the bedrooms. Other than that...I'm not doing a thing! I'll say a prayer for you to finish quickly and that you will be able to rest well when it's all finished.
