Dollar Tree Pillows & Reminder

I don't know about you but I consider the dollar tree... the $50.00 store.

I went in the other day for 1 thing and $37.00 later I was broke! :)
BUT
I had so wanted to make new pillows for our bed... the only thing is I cannot sew to save my life!

I happened to walk into the aisle with all the kitchen~y sort of stuff and came across these

To go with ... our bed!

I love the look of an unmade ~ disheveled and  cozy bed
You can kind of see the curtains (that still need to be moved to the width of the bed) actually almost match the pillow covers
I got three that were shiny brownish and three that are tone on tone brownish
I took these gold pillows and some green pillows that I had lying around and covered them...

These covers are so nice because they have a zipper!!

I think they are nice and are what I wanted... and for $6.00 for all of them... I could not go wrong!
I am thinking of adding pieces of the leftover curtain hem to sort of wrap around with Velcro... I can't sew so I will do something!
I will show you all that soon

Change in the corner

I wanted to show you more of my bedroom change...
This time I worked on the corner between the window and the closet

I started with this picture that I really like
I do plan on painting the frame in the spring but for now the gold will do
Faith Hope and Love
The Greatest of these is Love

I then added this awesome candle sconce that my brother bought me years ago when he worked for Anthroplogie
I need to change the candle to a shorter one but for now it is fine!

So then I had to deal with the corner... I moved my jewelry armoire out of the bedroom and then had an empty space

Oh and this basket ... the other basket and the unmade bed  almost never happen in this room LOL
I added my grandmas table

And the pole lamp that came with my new lamp set...
I was thrilled that I decided to put the pole lamp here because now I can actually see inside our closet...
So I went to the basement and brought up my set of old looking suitcases

I piled one on top of the other and now I have a place for my hubbys weather center... (yes he has one) and the charger for our cellphones too ... the cords are free!

I think it turned our rather cute an it all really blends with the "New to make look Old furniture"
~~~~~~~~~
I will be back with more on our bedroom soon!
Oh and I will be having a giveaway in two days in celebration of my 200th post!!!
New Lamps
I am still arranging the flow of our bedroom
I knew I wanted new lamps...
The lamps I had in there were brass... I bought them when we were married 10 years ago
The are still perfect... just not perfect for our bedroom!
I was suppose to spend all of my Christmas gift cash at AC Moore... I wanted some cricut cartridges and punches and papers and ooey gooey fun... but I got there at 8:08 and they had closed early... (even though they are normally open until 9)
So I took my cash across the street to Target... I love Target but try to avoid it like the plague because of this love!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
This time though I found a set of 3 oil rubbed bronze lamps for $29.00
I walked away 3 times from them before putting them in my cart
I took the lamps out of my cart once
I put the lamps back in my cart
I walked back to the section and walked away again...
Took the lamps out of my cart... then FINALLY told myself that I was worth a $29.00 gift
Plus how would I know if I will come across something similar ever...
I rushed to the checkout and brought them home
I would love to see the surveillance camera of me with these lamps... I must have had the security team peeing in their pants!
This lady is NUTS... how is she planning on stealing those lamps???
Anyway...
Here is how the new lamp looks with our new bedroom furniture...
Here is the dresser

And now here is the new oil rubbed bronze lamp

I love them and how they look ... it is now coming together believe it or not!

Metal in the bedroom

One of my New Year Goals is to create the bedroom that I want... one that is cozy and gender neutral!
Being gender neutral is important to me because well  ~ I have a hubby and nothing else about our home is manly.. well maybe not nothing... but most of the rest of the house is me and cute... and not him and manly!

I really like this Metal piece... it was stainless steel and I bought it at Christmas Tree Shops for 9.99 with the intention of putting it over my stove
It did not fit...
So I decided to put it over my dresser after painting it black and ...?
It looks gunmetal to me and so does NOT match the oil rubbed bronze pulls of the furniture..

The problem with matching oil rubbed bronze is the fact that you need to find the paint in order to buy it and make something over...
Could I find it anywhere... NO!
UNTIL... we headed out to lunch last Monday and lo and behold stopped at a remote Walmart 45 minutes away and FOUND IT
ORB.... wahoooo!!!!
So now here is the metal painted with ORB

So much better and it matches the pulls!!!

Stay tuned because I am still making over our bedroom and have a lot to show you

The hanger difference

One of my Christmas gifts from my parents was a set of 50 lilac huggable hangers
I am sure you heard of them
But if not here is the link to them

I am not a clothes person.  I don't have a ton of stuff!

I typically wear jeans or black pants with a dress shirt under a sweater all winter long.
I wear everything in my closet

Here is my winter wardrobe before the transformation with the hangers

yep, that is it... that is ALL my clothes for the winter!
This is 1/2 of a normal size closet... the hubby has the other side and he does have more clothes than I do... I even added a new level for pants for him!
Now here is the closet after using the new hangers

More room in the closet means I can buy more clothes LOL
Here is another shot... I coordinated by color and moved the over too.

I usually put together my wardrobe for the workweek so under the clothes are pants
I am so excited that this is all the room that these hangers took up
I loved that I was able to hang silky and wider collar tops without them falling off
So far I am impressed by the hangers and will let you all know how they fair in a few weeks!

Thanks for stopping
Have a great day

dressing in layers...

I am joining up with this lovely group to make my home sing Monday

Whenever I would stay over my grams when I was a kid she would always have us help her "dress the bed"!
So that is what I decided to do today!

I really love the look of a white bed... all crisp and clean and cloud like.
Normally I put a bottom sheet, top sheet and quilt on our bed and that is it.
It has been so cold here and because I have been reading more in bed  I decided to create a cozy yummy white fluffy bed to jump into!

Here is how I dressed our bed!

I started with a set of gray tee shirt sheets

I added a 800 count top sheet (wrinkled as heck)

I added a down comforter

I added a waffle weave blanket

I added a matelasse spread

I added a quilted throw

And then came the pillows....

My hubby loves pillows... and frankly so do I
We each sleep on 3 of them and then there is the fancy one that the hubby sneaks
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Making over my bedroom is my goal for this year...
My plan is to cover the small green ones in the same material as the curtains but I have not gotten that far yet!
I am also moving the curtains over the bed over a smidge and I want to get new lamps that I can paint with oil rubbed bronze... no rush though, I have a year to accomplish this goal!
Thanks for stopping by!!
Many Blessings
Patricia
