This is the front of our hopefully soon to be house
It is set upon a hill
There is 2 sides with ivy (the lush looking green)
Our plan as of now is to remove the shrubs from in front of the house and from the steps
We are getting a new front door with an oval opening and a side window
For now, the front window is staying as is with the white lattice work
We are thinking shutters for the big window and for the two front windows as well
My main question is WHAT color scheme should we go with?
The house is a traditional brick color (we don't want to paint the house just the trim and get new shutters)
How about accessories like colors of flowers, should we do window boxes and maybe a light?
This is not going to be a used main entrance, there are 2 others in the rear that we will use
Thank You in advance for any ideas!
Hi Patricia!
ReplyDeleteSo glad you dropped by my blog and left me a comment. It's always nice to meet new bloggy neighbors.
Your house is darling. I've always thought that hunter green looks good with your color of brick. And I think window boxes would look great - especially since the windows on the left are so much shorter than the ones on the right. It would help balance them out. We have the same thing going on with our house and we're going to add window boxes. As far as flowers go - you can't go wrong with whatever color scheme you choose. Just about everything goes with brick. Start with what you love and go from there. We are currently working on landscaping (and a complete overhaul, really) of our home. We moved in 18 months ago and it didn't have a tree in the yard. The landscaping was non-existent. I've done a lot of perusing the landscape books at the library. It's definitely helped with knowing what is going to be hardy and things like that. You may find that to be a good resource in helping you make decisions. Best wishes to you!
So nice to meet you!
Pam
Thanks for visiting my blog and leaving a comment. You must be looking forward to revamping the curb appeal of your home. It is cute already and has so much potential. I personally love the way black shutters & doors look with bright white trim against brick. It's very classic and I doubt will ever look dated. I have a brick home that had baby blue shutters. There were a heavy duty plastic and I was able to spray paint them with Krylon. They've been that way for almost 2 years and still look great!
