Lent for me is a season of spiritual growth.

Lent in 2010 will start on Wednesday, the 17th of February and will continue for 46 days until Saturday, the 3rd of April.
In Western Christianity Lent begins on Ash Wednesday and concludes on Holy Saturday.
The six Sundays in Lent are not counted among the forty days of lent because each Sunday represents a "mini-Easter", a celebration of Jesus' victory over sin and death.

In all my years of "Lents" I never realized that the Sundays were not included! If you give something up, do you allow yourself to have what you have given up on Sundays? I was not raised that way but my husband was!
ReplyDeleteI too enjoy Lent. Although it is hard to follow the no meat on Friday. I struggle with it every year. This year I have vowed to seriously eat healthier. My spring pants are a little tight on me. YIKES!
